ᑕ❶ᑐ Cody Gakpo: Liverpool accept signatory, say PSV Eindhoven

Liverpool have agreed to sign Dutch striker Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven, says the Dutch club. external privilege

Gakpo, 23, enjoyed an impressive World Cup in Qatar, scoring three goals as he helped the Netherlands reach the quarter-finals.

The fee for the winger is expected to be between €40-50m (€35.4-44.3m).

PSV said Gakpo would travel to England to complete the deal, adding it would be a record transfer for them.

Liverpool have taken a step forward with strikers Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota facing long spells on the sidelines.

Manchester United have been heavily linkedexternal privilege with a move for Gakpo.

« The PSV management completed negotiations on Boxing Day and a Gakpo cleared to travel to England, » read a statement from the Eredivisie side.

Gakpo has been in fine form this season, scoring nine goals and providing 12 assists in 14 league games for PSV.

He also managed three goals and two recorded assists decided in five Europa League outings.

At the World Cup, he scored in each of his country’s group games against Senegal, Ecuador and Qatar.

Liverpool beat Aston Villa 3-1 Monday as they returned to Premier League action; Manager Jurgen Klopp’s side are six months in the top flight.

Reds defender Virgil van Dijk, and international team-mate, spoke enthusiastically about the winger at the World Cup.
