And in the end, only one remains. A team to participate in the Euro U17 in Estonia, May 14 and 26. In addition to the French, Italy, Kosovo and the Republic of Ireland are eyeing this unique qualifying ticket put into play during the Elite Tour, organized by the Districts of Pyrénées-Atlantiques and Landes between Bayonne (Didier-Deschamps stadium) and Tarnos (Jean-André-Maye sports park).
This Thursday, the Bleuettes of the former international Peggy Provost (92 selections), authors of 3 goals, carried out the first 45 « reference » minutes against the Transalpines (3-1). A perfect start before moving on against the Kosovars (Sunday) and Ireland (Wednesday).
How was this first meeting against the Italians?
On a product a good first half with intentions in the collective game and the game carried forward. In addition to varying well, we were very impactful in the recovery. This has allowed us to make a difference on many occasions. I am satisfied with the group dynamics and the big collective investment. In the second half, there was less commitment and intensity. We gave up some ground to the Italians, which allowed them to recover balls.
Did you do the hardest by beating the best team, on paper?
The idea is really to progress match after match. We will try to follow up as best we can against Kosovo and Ireland. Our objective is forced to win these two meetings while respecting our opponents. We must remain vigilant. The work is done primarily in the field. The idea is to make a difference as quickly as possible. I also aspire to rotate, that all the girls likely to benefit from playing time. We train our young people at the international level, it is important that they can express themselves and progress in high-stakes matches.
Why is it important to play these qualifying rounds in the provinces?
It’s a good thing to go as far away as possible from the capital because it allows clubs, leagues and districts to carry out operations. For us, this is part of the training. The girls must be able to play everywhere in France in front of their public but also to be solicited. This is something important in relation to the development of women’s sport. We have to be open and show the way to the youngest players.
